Library St. Studios LLC, a Michigan limited liability company at 1250 Library St., Suite 21, Detroit, Michigan 48226. Questions about this policy, and requests to see, correct or delete your information, go to admin@libraryststudios.com. Email reaches a person; we do not have a public phone line yet.
Detroit Picture Company LLC is our sister company. It shares our building and some of our systems, and its own policy at detroitpictureco.com/privacy covers its clients and crew.
- When you apply. Your name, email, phone, date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or older), company, city, the disciplines you work in, a portfolio link, a short description of work you are proud of, your professional status, how and how often you intend to use the space, which tier interests you, whether you carry insurance, and how you heard about us.
- When you write to us. The contact form sends your name, email, optional phone and discipline, and your message to our inbox.
- When you request a booking. Your name, email and the dates, times and space you asked for.
- When you RSVP to an event. Your name and email, how you heard about the event, and whether you checked in at the door. Events are photographed and filmed; tell us at check-in if you would rather not appear.
- When you join. Your legal name, date of birth, phone, city, company, mailing address, and an emergency contact's name and phone. A copy of a photo ID and your certificates of insurance, uploaded to private storage. The agreements you sign: your typed name, the date and time, and your network (IP) address are recorded as your electronic signature, together with the version of the text you signed.
- When you book. The space, the dates and times, the gear you draw, and your guests.
- When you pay. Card and bank details are entered with Stripe and never reach our servers. We keep Stripe's customer reference, your invoices, your payment history and account balance, and, for an Executive Producer membership, the security deposit held and how it was applied or returned.
- Your choices. Whether you agreed to marketing email, to marketing texts, and to automatic renewal, with the exact wording shown, the time, your IP address, your browser, and the page you were on.
- When you sign in. A cookie that keeps you signed in. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and name.
- How you found us. Which of our own links or ads brought you to a form (UTM values and, with consent, ad click identifiers), stored with your submission so we know which channels work.
- Your cookie choice and when you made it.
For security and safety, the studio records common areas, entrances, and the gear cage on video and logs every credential entry. Cameras record video only, never audio, and are never placed in restrooms. Security video is kept for thirty (30) days unless it is saved for an incident, claim, or insurer. The condition of the space is also recorded on video at the start and end of each booking.
Recordings and logs may be used to investigate incidents, damage, loss, and breaches of the Membership Agreement, and may be shared with insurers and law enforcement. This is Section 2.6 of the Membership Agreement and Schedule B, Section B6.
Under Section 10 of the Membership Agreement, a member grants the studio and Detroit Picture Company LLC the right to photograph, film, and record the member at the studio, and to use those recordings, the member's name, likeness, and company name, and a general description of the member's work, in their own marketing, websites, social channels, member communications, workshops, press, and signage.
You may opt out when you sign, and opting out does not affect your membership. You may also withdraw the grant later by written notice to admin@libraryststudios.com: within thirty (30) days we stop new uses and remove the material from channels we control, without recalling material already published or distributed. A member running a booking may mark it a closed set, and no behind-the-scenes recording takes place during it.
To decide on an application. To let you into the building and know who to call if something goes wrong. To confirm you carry the insurance the space requires. To take and honor a booking. To bill you. To keep the records the law, our insurers and our lease require. To send you marketing email or texts, only if you said yes.
We do not build profiles of you and we do not make decisions about you by automated means.
These companies process information on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes:
- Stripe: payments and invoices; for Detroit Picture Company crew, payouts and the tax and bank details Stripe collects directly.
- Supabase: database, sign-in, and private file storage.
- Vercel: website hosting and scheduled jobs (no analytics).
- Resend: account, booking and billing email, and marketing email to people who sign up for the list and confirm their address.
- Google: company email (Google Workspace), sign in with Google when you choose it, and the studio calendar.
- Vimeo: plays our films on the home page and on the pages made for them (/watch on libraryststudios.com, /work on detroitpictureco.com); Vimeo receives your IP address when such a page loads, with do-not-track set.
- Google Maps: the map of our location; our pages show a still image and Google loads only when you open the map.
We also share what is needed with our insurers, with the building's landlord when the lease requires it, and with law enforcement when the law allows or requires it.
Detroit Picture Company LLC, our sister company, sees only what it needs to work alongside the studio: the stage and gear calendar without members' contact details, whether a member on a booking opted out of being filmed or the booking is a closed set, door lists for events it co-hosts, and incident recordings and reports. It receives a member's contact details only when that member asks for its production services or is hired as its crew. It does not use our information to market to you unless you agree, and it honors any opt-out you give us.
With your consent, advertising and analytics partners: Google (Analytics and Ads), Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn and TikTok. They receive information about your visit to our marketing pages (pages viewed, the link that brought you, device and browser details) and, when you submit a form after accepting advertising cookies, a hashed version of your email address and the type of action, so they can measure our ads. They use it under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell personal information for money. With your consent, we share limited information with advertising partners to measure and show our ads, which some state laws call "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out at any time through "Your privacy choices" in the footer, by rejecting advertising cookies, or with a Global Privacy Control signal.
If you sign up for email, we send a confirmation first and only email you after you confirm. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and our address. Unsubscribing takes effect right away.
We do not send marketing texts today. If we start, we will text only people who ticked the separate box for it, and replying STOP will end them. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.
These periods match Section 14 of the Membership Agreement.
- Member records: contact details, insurance certificates, signed agreements, booking history and payment records are kept in our member system and with our payment processor for the life of the membership and seven (7) years after.
- Copies of identity documents: deleted one (1) year after the membership ends. A scheduled job deletes the file and records that it did.
- Applications that are not approved: deleted twelve (12) months after the decision.
- Consent records: kept for the life of the account plus three (3) years, so we can show what you agreed to and when.
- Security video: thirty (30) days, unless it is saved for an incident, claim, or insurer.
- Event RSVPs: twelve (12) months after the event.
- Cookie choices: 3 years after the choice.
- Conversion delivery logs (which ad partner was told about which kind of action, never your email): 12 months after the send.
- Email subscriber records: until you unsubscribe, then kept as a suppression record so we do not email you again.
Write to admin@libraryststudios.com to get a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have deleted what we are not required to keep. We reply within thirty days. Some records are kept to meet legal, insurance and lease duties, and if that applies we will tell you which and why.
Before we act, we confirm the request is yours: we answer at the email address on your account or the one you wrote from, and for a copy or a deletion we may ask you to confirm one detail from your account. Someone asking for you needs your written permission.
If we turn down all or part of a request, we say why. You can appeal by writing to admin@libraryststudios.com with "Appeal" in the subject, and we answer within thirty days. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Michigan Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.
You can withdraw marketing consent at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, reply STOP to a text, or email us. Withdrawals are recorded too.
Identity documents and certificates are kept in private storage that only the studio can open, through links that expire after one minute. Card details never reach us. Admin access is limited to the partners.
If personal information were exposed in a way that put you at risk, we would notify you as Michigan's Identity Theft Protection Act requires.
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Members and account holders must be 18 or older. A minor at the studio as a guest or as talent is covered by a separate consent signed by a parent or guardian.
The version and effective date at the top change whenever the words do. If a change matters, we email current members before it takes effect. Earlier versions are available on request.
