Event and Workshop Terms

Events, classes and workshops at 1250 Library St., Suite 21 are hosted by Library St. Studios LLC or by Detroit Picture Company LLC, our sister company, which shares the studio. The event page names the host. The host is the party to these terms, and both companies may appear in photos and video of the event.

• An RSVP or ticket admits the person named on it. To send someone in your place, email us their name before the event starts.
• A ticketed event shows its price, what it includes, and its refund terms on the event page before you pay. If the host cancels or moves an event, you get a full refund, or a place on the new date if you prefer.
• The studio holds up to twenty-four (24) people at once, including staff, and we close RSVPs when an event is full.

Anyone under 18 is welcome only with a parent or guardian, who signs the waiver for them and stays with them for the whole event. Some events are 21 and over, and say so on the event page.

The studio is a working production space with lights, stands, cables and equipment.

• Hands-on workshops, and any event where you will be on the stage floor or handle equipment, require our Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release, signed before you enter the floor. Talks, screenings and open houses held off the stage floor do not.
• Follow staff instructions, and do not touch lights, stands, rigging or gear you have not been shown how to use.
• Equipment used in a workshop stays in the building and is used under staff supervision.
• Alcohol is served only by a licensed caterer.
• We may refuse entry to, or ask to leave, anyone whose conduct is unsafe, harassing or disruptive.

Events are photographed and filmed for Library St. Studios and Detroit Picture Company social channels, websites and marketing, and by attending you agree that you may appear in that footage without payment.

If you would rather not appear, tell us at check-in. We will make sure the crew knows, keep you out of the edit, and take you out of anything already posted if you ask us later at admin@libraryststudios.com. Opting out does not affect your place at the event. Anyone under 18 appears only with a parent's or guardian's consent.

You are welcome to take photos for yourself. Please do not record a workshop's audio or video, or share its materials, without the host's permission. The host owns its workshop content and materials; work you make yourself in a workshop is yours.

We use your name and email to hold your place, send you the details and check you in, and keep RSVP records for twelve (12) months after the event. You receive marketing email only if you tick the box for it. Our privacy policy explains the rest.

You attend at your own risk, to the extent the law allows, and we are not responsible for personal belongings. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Michigan law, including for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

These terms are governed by Michigan law. The version and effective date at the top change whenever the words do, and the version shown when you RSVP or buy a ticket applies to that event.
